Six Areas of Consideration for Environmental Action
Root Local’s conservation efforts challenge our community-focused, member-driven committee towards learning, action, and movement, while keeping the following six (6) environmental sectors in mind:
Green Buildings & Practices
We consider the overall impact of the built environment on human health and the natural environment.
Food Systems
We promote diversion of food waste from landfill throughout metro Atlanta and encourage purchasing sustainable, locally grown options as much as possible.
Sustainable Fashion & Products
We are aware of disposable fashion and other products. We encourage slowing consumption to reduce the negative impact on people and the planet.
Travel & Transportation
We explore eco-friendly, sustainable travel and commuting options in Atlanta and the surrounding area when planning events whenever possible.
Canopy & Land Management
We understand the importance of native planting and eradicating invasive species to maintain healthy and fruitful green spaces.
Air & Water Quality Management
Fosters learning and understanding for protecting the environment from the harmful effects of air and water pollution in Atlanta and its surrounding area.
