GREEN BUILDINGS & PRACTICES

Green building is the practice of creating structures and using processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building’s life-cycle. The Green Buildings & Practices area of focus helps identify opportunities to influence design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation and deconstruction decisions being made in Metro Atlanta.
Stats and facts:
- According to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), green buildings use 25% less energy and 11% less water in comparison with the ordinary commercial building.
- The most significant interest of green sustainable buildings is not reduced costs or more effective building methods but a healthier and safer living place for the building’s inhabitants.
- To promote sustainability, we should try and save natural resources wherever possible. Huge amounts of natural resources can be preserved by green construction methods since a bigger portion of materials can be recycled and can be replaced by eco-friendly materials that are used compared to standard building systems.
- The Atlanta area boasts two of the most sustainably built buildings in the world: the Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design at Georgia Tech and Mercedes-Benz Stadium just a few blocks away.
